About Edinburgh Edinburgh stands on the hills south of the Firth of Forth, and was named for Edwin of Northumbria, an Anglican king who built a fort here in the 600's. It has been the capital of Scotland since 1437. |
Edinburgh Castle is an ancient fortress which dominates the skyline of the city of Edinburgh, and which is Scotland's second most visited landmark. It is the official headquarters of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and the 52nd Infantry Brigade, as well as home to the regimental museum of the Royal Scots and Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. |
