Yellow
Air Cab Company a
Wichita, Kansas-based company that wanted to
build aircraft for an air taxi service and
franchise
The Yellow Air Cab Company was chartered on
May 27, 1929. It was based in a hangar previously
occupied by the Knoll Aircraft Company, at
Kellogg and Webb Road, in Wichita, Kansas. In
October 1929 the company entered into an
agreement to purchase 200 all-metal Buckley
LC-4's, and in January 1930 it purchased the
manufacturing rights to the Hilton "Super
Mid-Wing."
This Hilton "Super Mid-Wing"
prototype, along with the manufacturing rights,
was purchased by the Yellow Air Cab Company in
January 1930. The plane crashed in February,
killing its pilot, and no additional Super
Mid-Wings were ever built.
