In 1930, Cadillac joined two straight eights on a common crankshaft to create a status symbol for the very rich, a V-16 that got a "whopping" 5-6 miles to the gallon on the highway while cruising at a top speed of 90 miles per hour. There were 33 Fleetwood models, ranging from a $5,350 rumbleseat roadster to a $9,700 Town Brougham. The richest of the rich proved to be in very short supply after the Stock Market Crash and only 3,251 V-16 Fleetwoods were ever made.
